Grant in the UMass Minuteman Marching Band

Grant Cerulo plays trumpet with the Louis C. Sudler Trophy award winning University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band. Band activities begin in August with a week-long camp at the campus in Amherst. During the season, they travel extensively, performing at away games. This past year they gave exhibition performances at MICC competition in Framingham, MA and at the Bands of America Grand Nationals Competition in Indianapolis.

In May, 2005, the band had the exciting opportunity to perform at Symphony Hall, Boston at the "Honors Night" which featured the installation of Jack Wilson, University of Massachusetts president. Senator Edward Kennedy was also given an acheivement award at the event which lasted nearly four hours. Also performing was the Boston Pops Orchestra, directed by Keith Lockhart. Mom and I got tickets and really enjoyed the evening and seeing Grant in his 3rd Symphony Hall performance (once with Massachusetts All-State Chorus and once with the Ashland Concert Band at "Stars at Symphony").

The tuba section holds the Mass Ave traffic so the band may cross over to Symphony Hall (you just may be able to pick out Ian Kibbe in the middle):
